Congratulations to eleven of our attorneys for being selected by Law & Politics and the publishers of Texas Monthly magazine as 2009 Texas Super Lawyers.   This year marks the seventh year for the annual listing of the “Top Lawyers in Texas.”  Our attorneys making this year’s list include Ray Battaglia, Stanley Blend, Taylor Boone, Elizabeth Copeland, Diana Geis, Reese Harrison, Jr., Bruce Mitchell, David Oppenheimer, Marty Roos, David Stanush, and John Tate. This is a great honor for each of these individuals as only 5% of all Texas lawyers are selected to appear on the list from over 65,000 ballots. The selection process is a combination of peer votes and selection by a blue ribbon panel.  

An added congratulation goes out to Ray Battaglia and David Stanush, who were not only selected as Texas Super Lawyers, but were also named as one of the Top 50 Lawyers in the Central and West Region by Law & Politics and the publishers of Texas Monthly magazine.  

 

Ray heads the Firm’s Bankruptcy Practice Group and is a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee. Ray is Board Certified in Business Bankruptcy Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Ray and the Firm’s Bankruptcy Practice Group represented future asbestos claimants in a four-year long effort that resulted in confirmation of a bankruptcy plan that will result in the formation of a $1 Billion trust for current and future asbestos claimants.

 

David is a Shareholder in our Firm’s Estate Planning Practice Group. David is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.  In addition, David is a Certified Public Accountant and currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Texas Society of Certified Public accountants. He is frequent lecturer in the Estate Planning and Estate Administration area. 

 

This year marks the sixth year in a row that Ray has been named among the Top 50 lawyers in this region. According to Texas Monthly magazine, this 6-peat is quite an accomplishment. This year is David’s first time to being named among the Top 50 lawyers in this region. To be named one of the Top 50 is more than being one of the top 50 vote getters. The selection process is a combination of peer review and selection by a blue ribbon panel for professional excellence and character. We congratulate Ray and David on receiving the respect and recognition by his peers.
