Martin and Ortega Firm's Newest Shareholders
The Firm is very proud to announce the election of David Ortega and Lindsay Martin as Shareholders of the Firm, effective February 1, 2010. “These new shareholders embody the innovative spirit and legal excellence for which our firm is known,” said Bruce Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer. Mitchell went on to say both attorneys had proven track records for creating exceptional results and was confident they would continue to help shape the future of the firm with their leadership, vision and legal talent.
David L. Ortega is a litigation attorney with expertise in product liability, oil and gas, transportation and commercial litigation. David is originally from San Antonio, having attended Churchill High School. He received his J.D. from Drake University Law School and his B.A. in Economics/Business Administration from Texas A&M University.
After law school, David returned to San Antonio where he began his career in the products liability area. David took a four-year hiatus from private practice to serve as the Executive Vice-President of one of the largest, privately held truckload companies in the country. He was responsible for the company’s daily operation and its 2,000 employees. “David’s experience as a business executive provides him tremendous insight to corporate operation which has proven invaluable to his legal practice,” said Ray Battaglia, head of the firm’s Controversy Section.
David returned to San Antonio in 2004 and practice with a local law firm prior to joining the Firm. David was named in 2009 by Scene in SA Monthly magazine as one of San Antonio’s Best Litigation Attorneys. David is currently serving as a Director on the Board of San Antonio Sports.
Lindsay A. Martin is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, his M.S. from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, and his B.A., cum laude, from Columbia College.
Lindsay's practice is focused on the domestic and international aspects of estate planning, family wealth transfer, and complex estate administration. Lindsay is a frequent lecturer on estate planning concepts for non-resident aliens, in particular what Mexican Nationals and their advisors need to know about the US tax system and its effect on them and their assets. In addition, Lindsay advises individual and corporate fiduciaries on tax matters and contested controversies.
For the past four years, Martin has been recognized by Law & Politics and the publishers of Texas Monthly magazine as a Texas Rising Star. He was also named by Scene in SA Monthly magazine as one of the city’s Best Trust and Estate Planning Attorneys for 2009.
