Firm Serves Its Sixteenth Year In United Way Days of Caring Project

For the past sixteen (16) years, Team Oppenheimer Blend has been stepping up to lend a hand to the United Way as they host their “Days of Caring” initiative. The annual city-wide project helps connect nonprofit agencies with local businesses that are willing to devote a day to helping the nonprofit complete special projects.

Days of Caring 2009 was held this past October and team members from Oppenheimer, Blend, Harrison and Tate, Inc. were there ready to roll-up their sleeves and assist this year’s charity of choice - the Bexar County Detention Ministries, which serves and ministers to formerly incarcerated individuals. Their mission is to offer clients the opportunity to further their education and gain financial independence by becoming gainfully employed. They also assist with such tasks as Texas identification, birth certificates, food, clothing, and transportation for employment.

This year’s project consisted of organizing the agencies "Clothes Closet", which is used to provide clients with business attire, winter apparel, children’s clothing and household goods. In true volunteer spirit, and in the firm’s usual team format, a great effort was put forth - leaving the agency with a boutique style facility ready to showcase the many donations received from kind hearted San Antonians. Leading the team’s effort once again was Gloria Borrego along with Ruth Bush, Melanie Kenworthy, Ada Gordon, Sabrina Lewis, Alice Serna and Thelma Perales.

The firm is proud to be a long time supporter of the Day’s Of Caring initiative. We are equally proud and grateful to the Oppenheimer Blend team members who gave up a day to lend a hand to help support someone in need.
