Mark is a trial lawyer, and has successfully tried cases to juries and judges in federal and state courts. He focuses mainly on commercial, construction and mechanic’s lien cases, and he represents a wide range of clients in collection matters, from construction companies to commercial property owners to financial institutions.

Mark also has experience in contract, real estate, construction and insurance-coverage disputes, as well as drafting and negotiating contracts, emphasizing “plain English” and eliminating legalese.

Some of his more recent successes include:

  • Won week-long trial preventing note servicer from foreclosing on historic local hotel
  • Won multi-day injunction hearing against Romanian company claiming ownership of Dornier jet
  • Won jury trial for property owner against former commercial tenant who damaged the lease space
  • Collected essentially all amounts owed - nearly $1 million - to foreign client who supplied furniture to major hotel project in San Antonio
  • Represented local restaurant that was sued by corporate financing company - restaurant paid nothing
  • Partnered with another firm to try wrongful death case to successful jury verdict; case settled after appeals court affirms judgment
  • Recovered full payment and attorneys fees for commercial landlord in lease breach case
  • Won federal jury trial involving claims of civil rights violation; case settled confidentially after verdict

Mark is a frequent lecturer and has presented on topics such as "Condemnation 101:  What Happens When the Government Wants Your Land:" and "Update on Credit Issues:  A (Relatively) Painless Pop Quiz"  He has presented to members of the San Antonio Chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs and to participants attending the annual meeting of the National Association of Credit Management.
