Kathleen serves as the firm's Health Care & Life Sciences Practice Group Leader.  Her practice focuses on the regulatory aspects of health care law, including HIPAA; state and federal fraud and abuse, illegal remuneration, self-referral, and civil monetary penalties law; credentialing; Medicare billing; and federal and state regulation of HMOs, PPOs, and approved non-profit health corporations.  She counsels physicians and other health care providers in connection with investigations conducted by hospital peer review committees and licensing boards such as the Texas Medical Board.

Kathleen’s practice is also focused on the business aspects of health care law for physicians, physician groups, and hospitals, including the formation of group practices; formation of integrated delivery systems; purchase and sale of private medical practices; and negotiation and review of managed care contracts, employment contracts, and physician recruitment agreements.

In addition to her practice, Kathleen is a frequent author and lecturer on issues related to health care law.  Kathleen is the exclusive legal columnist for M.D. News San Antonio.

Kathleen's civic activities include volunteering her time as a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of ACCION Texas, a 501 (c) (3) micro lender which provides credit to small businesses that do not have access to loans from commercial sources.  Kathleen also serves as the Secretary of ACCION Texas.  She also serves on the Board of Directors of Harper's Embrace LifeSaver Program, a non-profit organization which provides free CPR training and emergency medical crisis management courses.  Kathleen also serves as the Chairman of the Sponsors' Council for the San Antonio Chapter of the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association.
